Dortmund Trade Mission to Vancouver

Wednesday 16th, October, 2019
How do you get cities collaborating? By organizing trade missions! In the spirit of working together, Walas with the German Consulate General of Vancouver organized a series of events for Lord Mayor Sierau of Dortmund and guests.
The trip started with a visit to Vancouver City Hall, where the delegation met Deputy Mayor Fry and was welcomed to the City.
Shortly after, Dudoc hosted a networking and trade showcase at our space on Frances St. At this event we had over 70 urban professionals including top architects, engineers, innovators, developers and representatives from municipal, provincial and federal governments.
The delegation traveled over to North Vancouver to meet Mayor Linda Buchanan, before celebrating German Unity Day at Hycroft Vancouver with guests and fellow German of Vancouver.
Lisa Helps form The City of Victoria hosted a productive morning with the Dortmund group with exchanges of past experiences, future visions, and ideas.
As Gerben mentioned in his address at the Dudoc event “Today marks the beginning of our collaboration”. In that spirit we want to continue to build a stronger network with those that want to improve our cities.
