Join us on Friday, June 29th, to celebrate Earth Charter Day and the start to summer!
This year’s theme is “Embrace a Sustainable Lifestyle”. The afternoon will be an opportunity to envision a more people-oriented Frances Street. As part of the festivities, you will be introduced to new curbside summer seating being built in front of Dudoc Vancouver and Earnest Ice Cream. This will be a welcome place to pause and engage with friends rather than rushing through to the next appointment.
Indoors, the parklet coordinator will highlight some unusual local heritage happenings and also introduce some sustainable options being considered for the future! Visitors of all ages can plant seeds to grow in their gardens, design food art or interact over the delicate balancing act of creating a large-scale Jenga building!
The Parklet structure is being built by TradeWorks, a local social enterprise, and LifeSpace who are providing self-watering planters. There will be herbs to enhance your ice cream! Earnest Ice Cream and MET, a long time neighbourhood business and leader in environmentally friendly printing, are partners in creating this new neighbourhood space.
Earth Charter Day at Dudoc is a free public event, everyone is welcome!
