Join the Red Fox Society to mark a decade of children and youth leadership programs in east Vancouver. The family-friendly festivities begin at 4 pm with special programming at 6 pm on Wednesday, October 3.
Red Fox programs are fun while also making a difference for kids’ physical activities, nutrition and leadership skills. On October 3, participants will showcase some of the things learned and, for attendees who are game, youth will provide tips on using stilts, hand designed hula hoops, diablo and flower sticks!
Many have supported the Red Fox Healthy Living Society over the decade but, when key funding was cut last year, organizers realized the importance of more people being aware of the range of programs and their impact on hundreds of kids. If you already know about Red Fox, you understand what fun you may have on October 3 with the Active Play, Environmental Art and Feasting activities. If you are just finding out about Red Fox, you are invited to come and discover more!
At 6 pm, a celebration begins recognizing youth achievements and honouring long time community champions. Popular and provocative word artist, Kimmortal, will perform and throughout the event, the youth’s PowWow Drummers will play and J Peachy Gallery will lead interactive art activities. There is a cash bar from 6 – 8 PM.
As part of the evening’s FUNdraiser to support Red Fox programs, original art made by the youth will be auctioned off. There will also be beautifully crafted Red Fox stilts, hula hoops, and flower sticks available to purchase. All funds raised will support east Vancouver Red Fox initiatives for children and families.
The Red Fox Healthy Living Society also has programs now in many Metro Vancouver communities and as far east as Maple Ridge.
Tickets are free for children under 12. For others, tickets are $25. Bannock and beverages will be provided.
