International Trade Mission for European Innovations

Between February 11th and 15th, World of Walas organized a 5-day trade mission with 11 innovation European companies. For 5 full days, participants engaged with the BC market, connected with local experts, counterparts and potential customers, and showcased their innovations at Western Canada’s largest building conference. The mission was designed to connect European innovations in sustainability to the North American market and to open dialogue in how to bring innovations to new markets.
On their first day, our partners joined us as we explore the market, and received exclusive presentations from the Vancouver Economic Commission on Vancouver’s Sustainable City Strategy, the British Columbia Provincial Energy Step Code Building Program, and the Federal Government of Canada on Canada’s Innovation Business Development support programs.
On the second day, a special Architect Evening and Social, where our CISO, Dirk van der Ven, gave a presentation to the community and network of urban professionals that we have grown for the past 4.5 years in Vancouver. Our partners mingled with the leaders and key stakeholders of Canada’s urban development economy.
On Wednesday, February 13th – Thursday, February 14th, World of Walas will return to Buildex in to present the 2019 European Innovation Pavilion. Buildex is Western Canada’s largest tradeshow and conference for the Construction, Renovation, Architecture, Interior Design and Property Management industries. Over 600 exhibits, and more than 80 educational seminars BUILDEX attract over 14,000 attendees annually. World of Walas was asked to build on the success of the European Pavilion in 2018 with an expanded program. We collaborated with Passive House Canada to join the Passive House building community in Vancouver and our partners in European Innovations for a fun night of drinks, appetizers and casual networking.
Finally, our partners joined us once again at our Centre for Innovation for one-on-one meetings on Friday, February 15th, where they will follow-up with leads, and potential business opportunities before concluding their trade mission.
