Tales of Resilience in Entrepreneurship

On November 21st, Dudoc Vancouver hosted Start-up Vancouver’s Start-Up Stories featuring entrepreneurs and their riveting stories on how they started their businesses. This Stories series event focused on resiliency and invited entrepreneurs with physical and intellectual challenges to tell their personal journey through the startup world.

Tamara Komunlecki, the founder and owner of Delish General Stores, was born with arthritis, and lived with pains since the age of 5. Having to endured pain and multiple replacement surgeries for her shoulders, ankles, and beyond, Tamara stands tall and resilient, working long days as a successful business owner, and spokesperson for St. Paul’s hospital for others to overcome the challenges of their replacement surgeries.

These stories don’t just act as inspiration for those looking to start their own business. Accessibility is important for everyone. Tanelle Bolt, a fitness model who damaged her spine and lost the ability to walk during a recreational free jump, is now committed to introducing accessibility equipment to help outdoor-lovers like herself to continue to enjoy sports outside. This equipment doesn’t just positively affect those who experienced spinal damage. As a higher percentage of the general population ages into retirement, outdoor exercise leads to higher quality of life and longer lives for seniors. Her initiative is helping seniors live longer and happier.

As Dudoc Vancouver, we strive to support innovators in Vancouver. We are happy to announce that Start-Up Vancouver will be able to call Dudoc Vancouver their home base in January and will be hosting more events with us. We look forward to supporting them in the future and nurturing a culture of innovation for the Greater Vancouver region.

Their next event will be Startup Drinks! Here’s the Eventbrite registration link: Link
